| After we have arranged for a flight for your kitten, I will e-mail the flight details and confirmation number to you. You will bring that, along with your ID to the airport to pick your kitten up. If we ship Alaska we will send the kitten C.O.D. The other airlines require payment prior to travel. You will likely retrieve your kitten at the airline Cargo office. This is usually close to, but separate from the main passenger terminal, making pickup easier. I will have the cargo pickup location and a phone number for you at the time of booking. On the phone, the cargo office may suggest waiting up to an hour after scheduled flight arrival before pick up. It has been my experience that if you get to the office at the scheduled arrival time the personnel will call out to have the kitten brought in ASAP. I have found that if they know you are waiting, they will try to quickly accommodate you and your new kitten. Please bring my phone number and call me as soon as you leave the cargo office with kitten in hand. These are my babies and I do not rest easy until I know the flight has arrived on time and all is well. Bring with you a scissor for opening the zip tie on the carrier. Your kitten will enjoy being held on the way home. Also bring water, food and litter box if the drive home will be more than an hour. Our kittens have never been alone before so just going to a new home can be somewhat stressful. However they are generally calm little creatures. Most are not bothered by traveling in cars, traveling by air, loud noises or being presented with new circumstances. Even so, after the long flight home do not introduce your new kitten to your other animals, let him get comfortable and confident first. Well socialized kittens are like children, they soak up new experiences like a sponge. A few days after the flight home, I recommend continuing what we have started. Expose them to things like the vacuum cleaner, blow dryers, traveling in cars, clipping their nails and especially visiting with strangers. Continue to introduce them to as many things as possible and they will accept it as a part of normal life. |
